Horn is one of the most important components in a car. A fully functional horn alerts other motorists on the road and gives you a free path during emergency situations.

There are many instances when the horn of a car stops working. However, repairing a non-functional horn is not a difficult task. You only need to check various other components connected to the horn to make it functional.

If you are not comfortable or confident in handling these situations yourself, feel free to call our expert mechanics from Garage On Road.

5 WAYS TO FIX A CAR HORN

These are 5 easy ways of fixing a car horn. You do not require any hi-fi equipment. You might need a plier or a screwdriver to fix a horn.

#CHECK THE FUSE BOX IN THE CAR

The first thing you must do is to locate the fuse box inside the vehicle. You can refer to the car manual for the same. Mostly you will find the fuse box near the dashboard or near the engine bay of the vehicle. Once you have fuse located in front of you, open it and check which is the fuse set for the horn.

Refer to the car manual and the diagram available on the fuse box to locate the respective fuse. Remove the fuse and you will see a small wire inside the fuse. Carefully check whether the wire is there in a good condition or melted. If the wire is melted or broken, you have to change the fuse. If the wire is in good condition, you need to figure out other ways that might have affected the horn.

#RELAY

If the fuse is not damaged, the next thing you have to check is the relay. It is present inside the hood of the vehicle and mostly just under the horn. The easiest way to check this relay is to replace it with a new one. If the horn starts working with a new relay, then congrats, you have solved the problem. Else, you need to find other reasons that might have resulted in the problem.

#HORN CIRCUIT

Talking about the exteriors of Mahindra XUV300, it looks, rich, classy and stubborn. The car has headlamps, fog lamps, sculpted bonnet, curbed shoulder, dual LED DRL, LED tail lamp. Along with this, it has wide tear duct tires (17inch alloy wheels). The concept behind the design was to keep it similar to that of Cheetah.

#LOCATE AND CHECK THE HORN SWITCH

Locating and checking the horn switch would be a difficult task for a layman. You need to open the front of the steering wheel and locate the horn switch. Doing all this could be a tricky task, especially putting everything aside back into the steering wheel. There are times when everything else is fin but the switch is broken. In that case, you need to change the switch of the horn to make it functional again.

#CHECK THE HORN OF THE VEHICLE

The last thing you have to do is check the horn. Make sure the horn is not damaged or cracked from anywhere. If you are using the same horn for years, there are chances that the speakers have become damaged. In that case, you have to buy a new horn and replace it with the damaged one.
